The Quick and Skinny on Affiliate Marketing
If you were to buy into all of the hype that is thrown around the internet these days, you would likely go broke quickly. You must remember that the web is similar to the “Wild West” as there are so many unscrupulous people who would prey on the newness of some marketers (noobs), by trying to sell them books and courses they do not need. Affiliate marketing is a great way for a new marketer to make a good income online, however there are some tips and tricks that one needs to know before venturing into the world of the affiliate:
Pick a niche and stay there: While diversifying is a great thing, one common big mistake that new marketers make is trying to specialize in too many different niches at the same time. A better course of action would be to try a niche, work it to death and then reassess. If you are making money, scale up your efforts. If you are not making money after a few weeks, it might be time to change course.
Don’t go for the big niches yet: So many new marketers start off trying to make big money, however the big money is also in the most competitive niches most of the time. Do not start off in the relationship, health, fitness or internet marketing niches unless you have a lot of time to spend waiting for sales. It is often better to find a narrower niche without so much competition.
Try different routes: Instead of relying on just one affiliate network, it is best to branch out and use a few. This gives you a chance to “split test” to see which products are making the money for you.
Affiliate marketing can be a huge money maker, but it does take some time, patience and forethought to become successful at it. You cannot expect to become a millionaire overnight, however there is a lot of money yet to be made if you are willing to invest some time and energy.
